Tyre treads are designed to give good grip in all conditions however, the more tyre tread patterns wear down, the less grip your vehicle will have with the surface. The current legal limit of tyre tread depth in the UK for motorcycles over 50cc is 1mm tread across 3/4 of the tyre in a continuous band. The remaining 1/4 should have visible tread. The absolute minimum recommended tyre tread however is 2mm.
